Discerning consumers know that composting is cool, but Palm Labs takes it literally. Their energy-sipping cooling technology for a countertop composting bin offers a completely odorless and mess-free experience. They came to Spanner with this idea and proof that it could work but they looked to the expertise of our senior ME, EE and ID teams to bring the idea to life and the product to market. Spanner’s contributions included concept feasibility testing, architecture, proof of concept prototypes, performance validations, and ergonomic performance evaluations. Spanner is delighted to help bring the Palm Bin to life and facilitate easy sustainable living.

Leveraging Spanner’s multidisciplinary engineering muscle, Palm Labs received a comprehensive solution. Our senior Mechanical Engineers (MEs) conducted concept feasibility testing, ensuring the core technology could be translated into a functional product. Our Electrical Engineers (EEs) then defined the architecture, the electrical backbone that brings the cooling system to life. The Industrial Designers (IDs) from design partner Alquemy Design took the lead on crafting multiple proof-of-concept prototypes, ensuring the Palm Bin was not just functional but also aesthetically pleasing and user-friendly. Finally, both the MEs and EEs performed rigorous performance validations to ensure the cooling system met Palm Labs’ expectations. Spanner’s human factors team capped it all off with ergonomic performance evaluations, guaranteeing the Palm Bin would be comfortable and intuitive to use in any kitchen. Through this collaborative approach, Spanner transformed Palm Labs’ innovative concept into a reality.
