CES 2024 Highlights and Trends
CES 2024 did not disappoint!
The tech was impressive but even more so, there was a collective sense of optimism that perhaps we haven’t seen within the tech community in a few years. We heard from many teams that their supply chains were improving and that conversations with investors and partners were active and promising. In a nutshell, it felt as though a storm had been weathered and we were coming out on the other side.
Of course, the other big story, as promised, was AI. It was everywhere, overused (and often incorrectly) to mean anything with an algorithm - somewhat replacing the word “smart” that we saw in previous product interactions. That being said, there were also promising trends both within the AI categories and within other verticals. Here are some of our highlights:
Exhibiting Clients
When we talk about milestones with clients, exhibiting at CES certainly would be at the pinnacle. We were thrilled to connect with current and former clients including Leafi Home, Yo-Kai Express, Sana, and more as they unveiled their products to enthusiastic crowds along with potential investors and partners.
FoodTech
From cotton candy to cocktails, machines designed to do the work while providing delight were a highlight for the crowd at the Venetian.
HealthTech
Urinalysis and smart toilet tech were the lead stories here. Color-changing test strips, handheld devices, and toilet attachments - all ways to analyze your health daily and give you feedback on hydration and diet. There was also of course a smart toilet, though the tech was centered more around ultimate comfort.
Assistive Technology
A really positive development we observed is the growth within tech designed around helping those with vision or hearing disabilities. From a rolling cane that can guide a user to an open-source framework for the blind, and smart glasses that can transcribe and caption a conversation in real-time, to an AI-assisted audio recorder that can transcribe conversations.
General Design Trends
Design trends leaned two-tone with black and white being the dominant palette. Form trends included cylinders and parallel lines (both linear and radial) for accents, textures, and venting.
CES2024 proved to be a fantastic event for the tech community to gather and celebrate as well as an opportunity to witness some of the groundbreaking tech that is being developed. It’s good to have your mind blown now and again! The only disappointment was not being able to see two of the bigger tech stories, Humane and Rabbit, exhibiting. Humane, made up of former Apple employees was not a total surprise as Apple does not exhibit at CES, but it seemed like a missed opportunity. Rabbit did have one unit bouncing around the show which made for a great marketing story but perhaps ended up being a bit too elusive to really showcase the technology.
