Saris Edge 2
Premium eBikes deserve a premium rack.
The Saris Edge 2 is a heavy-duty, frame-free hitch rack designed for modern eBikes. It's built to handle real conditions, from urban streets to Class A motorhomes, and can support up to 80 pounds per bike. It's as thoughtful as it is durable, with features like a one-handed clamping arm, anti-wobble stabilization, and no-frame-contact wheel locking. The rack also folds flat for easy storage.
When Saris set out to design the Edge 2, they weren't just creating another rack—they were crafting a premium experience for serious riders who demand seamless loading, security, and long-term reliability.
Spanner joined the team in the earliest stages to help lay the design and engineering foundation for the Edge 2. Our work began with immersing ourselves in the Saris brand to understand its values and aspirations. We defined the target user persona, benchmarked competitive products, and identified key focus areas for differentiation. This research helped us identify keywords that guided the design language and established initial moodboards. We then refined the chosen design language to integrate engineering optimizations and manufacturing considerations, ensuring the product was viable for production.
Beyond industrial design, we also helped map out the assembly logic, developed a detailed parts breakout, and delivered CMF (color, material, and finish) guidance to ensure the final product would feel as premium as it performs — visually, tactilely, and mechanically.
The final result, released in early 2025, has received praise not just for what it holds, but for how it holds up. As Electric Bike Journal put it: "This is one of the most versatile, user-friendly racks available today."
We are proud to have played a part in the story, helping translate a bold idea into a product that delivers every ride.
