Upgrading access control in existing multifamily buildings is notoriously complex and expensive. Hampton challenged Spanner to create a solution that would change the game, resulting in the innovative AccessIQ lock.
AccessIQ brings multifamily properties into the future, offering a streamlined access solution with simple retrofits, elevated security, and the modern convenience of smartphone access, all while driving down operational costs. Designed to integrate with existing door hardware and property management software, AccessIQ transforms how property managers and residents interact with access.
Spanner brought hardware leadership and a proven development process to establish the product architecture of the AccessIQ lock and execute its intricate details.
We collaborated with Hampton’s cross-functional team to develop the Product Requirements Document, meticulously defining every feature, exploring all possible use cases, and ensuring alignment among stakeholders and C-level executives on the product’s core vision and DNA.
Our mechanical engineering team then laid the foundation, designing a robust and seamlessly integrated lock system optimized for retrofit applications. We also applied our electrical engineering expertise to craft the lock’s electronic core, ensuring reliable performance and secure communication. Finally, our firmware development team built the intelligent software that powers AccessIQ, guaranteeing a seamless user experience.
Spanner played a key role in managing the overseas JDM, driving the schedule, directing operational workflows, and facilitating seamless collaboration among numerous stakeholders involved in the product's development and manufacturing.
